Hart of the Barossa

About The Wine

2021 Shiraz

Vintage

The Shiraz vines were harvested early to mid March, 3 separate picks over 3 week period for more complexity of flavours. The grapes gently destemmed into small open top fermenters. The grapes were fermented for nine to ten days on skins where hand pumpovers were employed twice daily. The must was traditionally pressed and immediately filled to new and seasoned French & American oak hogsheads where it completed fermentation. The wine was matured in hogsheads for 18 months prior to bottling. Hart of the Barossa Shiraz is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Winemaking

A bold and authentic Estate Grown, hand-picked, hand- crafted Flagship Shiraz.

Aged in American and French oak barrels (25% new) for 18 months. So plentiful and pure to the core, the DNA can be traced back to our single vineyard terroir in the heart of the Barossa. It’s how we benchmark our grape to glass accomplishments.

Tasting

Colour  - Deep red with purple hues
Bouquet - Bright and fragrant with lifted aromatics of ripe blackberry and plum

Palate - Layers of vanilla and spice aromas, fruit cake and mocha. A full bodied and well-balanced Shiraz with elongated palate. Harmonious, rich, satisfying.

About The Winery

Planted in 1902,

Hart of the Barossa is the longest-standing certified organic vineyard in the Barossa Valley.

Hand-picked, hand-pruned and hand-crafted wines from our single vineyard.

What they do best is handcrafted small batch premium organic wine, only releasing the labour of love when it’s good and ready to share with pride. Some releases are so rare—like our flagship Old Vine Shiraz ‘The Faithful’—that we only craft one or two barrels each vintage from our original four rows of vines planted in 1902 – one hundred and nineteen years in the making.

We specialise in traditional Barossan red wines with exclusive limited release Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro and Cabernet Sauvignon.  They also produce a small volume of Frontignac Frizzante and Rose’.

We are a Halliday 5 Star rated winery, with many international awards and have experience exporting to Europe and Asia.
